Extramural cause of subacute intestinal obstruction-

Subacute intestinal obstruction can be caused by intramural, intraluminal, or extramural factors

• Extramural causes → Outside the bowel wall, compressing or obstructing it from the outside.
  Example: Malignancy (tumor pressing on the intestine from outside)

  Other options:

• Adhesion → Usually extrinsic, but more often considered intraperitoneal bands; could be borderline.
• Stricture → Intramural (within the wall of the intestine)

• Volvulus → Lumenal/torsion cause, not purely extramural

  So, the classical extramural cause is malignancy.
